TODAY’S GUEST

We launched the Dream Big Podcast in October 2016, and have been publishing new episodes weekly since our launch. We’re now at episode 44, which is no small accomplishment as we know that it takes consistent and intentional work to grow a podcast (and to reach any goal in life).   Jordan Harbinger is definitely one of our role models in the podcasting space. He was very early in the podcast movement and has been publishing regularly for over 10 years with over 700 episodes. As host of The Art of Charm Podcast, Jordan interviews leading entrepreneurs, celebrities, writers and experts about psychology, performance, life and success.

For all his work in the field, Forbes named Jordan one of the 50 Best Relationship-Builders in the World, Success Magazine listed him alongside Oprah Winfrey and Tony Robbins as one of  “25 People Who Can Help Change Your Life,”  and Inc. Magazine recently called him “the Charlie Rose of Podcasting.”  Through his podcast, website, and workshops, Jordan inspires millions of people every month and it was an honor to have him as our guest on the Dream Big Podcast.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

TODAY’S GUEST

Like many kids (and adults), Eva can be shy when she is meeting people for the first time.  This often comes as a surprise to our audience since Eva is so outgoing on the podcast.  We know that Eva can be very charming once she warms up, but we were looking for ways to build her confidence when she meets people for the first time.  That’s why we were so excited when Vanessa Van Edwards agreed to be a guest on the show.  Vanessa is a best selling author & lead investigator at her human behavior research lab, Science of People. Her groundbreaking book, Captivate: Use Science to Succeed with People was chosen by Apple as one of the most anticipated books of 2017. She writes a monthly Science of Success column for Entrepreneur Magazine and the Huffington Post.

Eva got so much value out of the conversation with Vanessa, and she used her advice to meet and make new friends on our summer vacation.   We know you Big Dreamers will love all of Vanessa’s practical tips as well!

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • Why Vanessa calls herself a “recovering boring person” (and you’ll see how she is definitely not boring anymore!)
  • What “turtling” is, and why you shouldn’t do it.
  • Tips on how you can feel confident when you walk into a room.
  • Vanessa’s advice to kids who are nervous about making new friends at school.
  • Why it is important to teach people skills to everyone, especially kids, and Vanessa’s plan to add the subject to school curriculums.
  • The mission behind her latest book “Captivate.”
  • Practical tips on questions to ask to start up a conversation.
  • Vanessa’s BIG DREAM for the future.

RESOURCES

In this episode, Vanessa shared some amazing tips for making new friends — one of which was to ask questions where you can anticipate that your answer will be “Me Too.”   She even challenged our Big Dreamers to ask 3 questions this week where you’ll be able to respond “Me Too!” (listen at 22 minute mark of interview).  We know that if you’ll try this challenge, you’ll find how simple and powerful just two words — “Me Too!” — can be when you are trying to connect with someone for the first time.   We even created this inspirational artwork to encourage you to take Vanessa’s challenge.  As always, our Dream Big Podcast downloads can be customized with your face and name, and it is 100% free to download.

If this coming week you complete the “Me Too!” challenge, please let Olga know by emailing her at Olga@DreamBigPodcast.com.  You will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift card.  Winners are selected monthly and contacted by email (as well as announced on our show!).

TODAY’S GUEST

This week, Eva and Olga welcome world-renowned theoretical physicist, Professor Brian Greene.  Hailed by the Washington Post as  “the single best explainer of abstruse concepts in the world today,” Professor Greene has a gift of finding creative ways to explain complicated scientific subjects so that anyone can understand them.   Professor Greene is known to the public through his New York Times best selling books and numerous media appearances from the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to Charlie Rose.   He is also founder of the World Science Festival, which celebrated its 10th annual event this year in New York City.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • Why Professor Greene uses analogies to everyday life to describe complicated scientific subjects.
  • Professor Greene explains how kids should understand that science is much more than just a subject in school, but rather a way to understand how our world works.
  • Professor Greene explains the idea that there may be more than 1 universe.
  • Why stars are not that visible in big cities like New York and Paris.
  • How we can encourage more women to pursue careers in science.
  • An awesome experiment that you can do at home to understand Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.
  • Professor Greene’s BIG DREAM for the future.
  • And much, much more.

RESOURCES

It would be impossible to listen to this episode without feeling Professor Greene’s passion for science.  We loved when he shared: “Science is much more than just a subject that you study in the classroom.  It is really our way of figuring out how the world works.” We encourage all you Big Dreamers to develop a love for science, which can be used inside and outside the classroom. We created this inspirational artwork which you can print out and use as a reminder of the importance of science. As always, our Dream Big Podcast downloads can be customized with your face and name, and it is 100% free to download. Click here to claim you free download.

If you work on developing your love for science, please let Olga know by emailing her at Olga@DreamBigPodcast.com.  You will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift card.  Winners are selected monthly and contacted by email (as well as announced on our show!).
